YOGA

Duration: 60 minutes

Level: General

Our yoga style is Vinyasa. In Vinyasa yoga, the asanas (postures) are linked together in a series of movements that are synchronized with the breath. The practice of Vinyasa yoga can increase muscle strength, flexibility, balance, core strength and endurance, as well as reducing stress and creating a sense of calm that you can carry into all aspects of your life. Generally, the first half hour of class involves standing and balancing postures, with the second half hour of class involving backbends, twists, stretching, and savasana (relaxation).

Our Vinyasa yoga classes are set to uplifting and inspiring music, with a mix of traditional sounds and modern beats such as Chet Faker, City and Colour, London Grammar, Michael Franti and Trevor Hall.

If you have never tried yoga before, try to pop along to a beginners class first. However, if these times do not suit your schedule, please feel free to join a general yoga class and your teacher will look after you. We always offer beginners (and advanced) options.

YOGA BEGINNERS

Duration: 60 minutes

Level: Beginner

Yoga Beginners will teach you the foundations of Vinyasa Yoga including the breath, sun salutations and standing sequences, and basic balancing poses and back bends.

The class structure remains the same as a general class but the movements and transitions are slower and fully explained. Your teacher will demonstrate but also watch to make sure you are getting it right.

Questions after class are not only welcomed but encouraged - your teacher is here to guide and support you through your yoga journey!

More advanced students, you can still attend if you feel like a slower, more gentle class and to refine your alignment/technique.

YIN YOGA

Duration: 60 minutes

Level: Beginner

Yin yoga is a beautiful style of yoga that is practised almost entirely sitting or laying on the floor, and involves holding each pose or stretch for between 3-5 minutes. Holding the poses for this length of time allows the body to open up and takes the stretches into the deep muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and joints; improving flexibility and increasing circulation to these areas. In a Yin yoga class you will experience deep relaxation of the body and mind. Great to help combat stress, anxiety, depression and insomnia.

There is no skill required for Yin yoga. Beginners to advanced yogis will benefit from this style of yoga. A great complimentary class to your vinyasa yoga and pilates practice.

Our Yin classes are set to relaxing music, including Garth Stevenson, Matt Corby and Bon Iver.

BARRE

Duration: 45 minutes

Level: General

Barre is a high intensity, low impact class. It incorporates traditional dance movements with pilates using weights, therabands, chi balls, rings, and of course the ballet barre. Barre uses interval training to help you get fast and effective results including trimming down, increasing muscle tone and building strength. We start with a standing warm up which includes leg lifts, lunges and squates, then we head to the barre and do a variety of different exercises with varied props.  Then comes a floor ab session and whatever else the teacher feels needs more burn!

We turn up the music and have fun with artists like RUFUS, Major Laser, Disclosure and Flight Facilities.

One size fits all with barre. Come along and take it at your own pace.

PILATES

Duration: 45 minutes

Level: General

Pilates is a physical fitness system that was developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates, and although the Pilates method of exercise has evolved over the years, the key concepts of building strength, flexibility and lean muscle tone whilst maintaining correct alignment, concentration, control, and flowing movement has remained the same. There are a few styles of pilates, but our pilates style is mat pilates (with a few fun props like hand weights to increase resistance), and the exercises are dynamic and energetic, so you will always leave feeling like you have had a great workout. We also have a really fun time with loud music such as The Aston Shuffle, Jurassic 5, RUFUS, Peking Duck, Disclosure and Flight Facilities.

If you have never tried pilates before, try to pop along to a beginners class first. However, if these times do not suit your schedule, please feel free to join a general pilates class and your teacher will look after you. We always offer beginners (and advanced) options.
